Introduction to the ACFS The objectives of the society are to promote friendship and understanding between the people of Australia and China. Pre 1972 the main objective of the ACFS was the promotion of the Australian government's recognition of PR China. Post 1972, after the establishment of diplomatic relations, ACFS broadened its scope of activities to include the promotion of trade and educational exchanges between both countries. Invited to join ACS National Council, ACFS Queensland has been both an initiator and/or a facilitator for a wide range of activities ranging from cultural exchanges to twinning of cities. Although not established as a Chinese community organisation ACFS Queensland has always enjoyed a strong working relationship with the community organisations that now number 40 groups.
